Whether you are using iOS or Android devices, you can now have two WhatsApp installations in one device: WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business. You need to use two different numbers for each installation of WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business—you cannot use the same number on both installations.
If you were using your number on WhatsApp and you'd like to move it over to WhatsApp Business, it's a pretty straightforward process:
- Download WhatsApp Business from App Store or Google Play Store
- Open the new installation of WhatsApp Business
- Follow the prompt asking if you would like to move your data from WhatsApp to WhatsApp Business
That's it. All your chats should be ported over to WhatsApp Business, and you are now free to use another number on your existing WhatsApp installation.
What's the difference between WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business?
In terms of chatting functionality, they are basically pretty much very similar from one another. However, WhatsApp Business allows you more customizations and features that a business may find useful. Take a quick look below on the settings available under Business Tools in WhatsApp Business. You can set an automatic greeting or away messages, and even set quick replies for frequently-used phrases.
