It's coming! After rewatching the series at least three times (I am still surprised at how I can still uncover jokes I missed on my first watch—big props to Tina Fey and Robert Carlock!), we are finally getting another Kimmy-packed content in the Netflix interactive special, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs The Reverend.

WARNING: Potential spoiler ahead!
If you haven't watched the show, you better run Lillian!

I have never watched any interactive shows on Netflix, although I am certainly a fan of the idea. I'm pretty sure I'm going to be rewatching it a few times, so I'm definitely not going to worry about making the wrong choices. If you're not a fan of making choices however, you can always let Netflix auto-select the choices for you!

Trailer

Set after the ending of the series, Kimmy (Ellie Kemper) is set to marry Frederick (Daniel Radcliffe), only to be caught up in the suspicion that there is another mole woman kept by Reverend Richard Wayne Gary Wayne (Jon Hamm). Kimmy then visited the reverend, only for him to let slip that there may in fact be more than one mole woman. Days away from her wedding, Kimmy then sets out on an adventure with Titus to find the mole woman (or women).

Confirmed Characters

  • Ellie Kemper as Kimberly "Kimmy" Cougar Schmidt
  • Tituss Burgess as Titus Andromedon
  • Carol Kane as Lillian Kaushtupper
  • Jane Krakowski as Jacqueline (Jackie Lynn) White
  • Daniel Radcliffe as Frederick
  • Sara Chase as Cyndee Pokorny
  • Sol Miranda as Donna Maria Nuñez
  • Jon Hamm as Reverend Richard Wayne Gary Wayne

Where's Gretchen?

Other than Kimmy, Cyndee Pokorny (from the bunker?)—you just heard her say her name over the phone, didn't you—and Donna Maria Nuñez are both ex- mole women confirmed to be in the show.

The only mole woman who didn't appear in the trailer is Gretchen Chalker, whose last plotful appearance was in Season 3 Episode 5, "Kimmy Steps on a Crack!", where she was arrested, only to start another cult in the prison. Of course, there was that episode in Season 4 Episode 9, "Sliding Van Doors" where she became the leader of a church in which the founder died of natural causes and she somehow had a husband who befittingly took her last name. This isn't exactly canon to the main storyline of the series though, so we still don't know what has actually become of Gretchen. I'm curious as to what part she will have in the interactive movie.

All hail Gretchen

Oh everybody look,
there's Gretchen husband, Shelley

All Hail Gretchen

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs The Reverend will be released on Netflix on Tuesday, May 12th, 2020.
